Self-portrait family tree

Have you ever wanted to recover all of your ancestry photos? Rafael Goldchain found the perfect solution. ‘on familial ground’ is an autobiographical installation work that includes digitally altered self-portrait photographs. However these self-portraits aren’t of goldchain. each one features the artist re-enacting ancestral figure from his family, many of whom are no longer alive. by dressing up in period costume and applying prosthetic makeup, Goldchain mimics 56 of his relatives.
