I never thought I'd see the day where someone would say Fox covers both sides of the news. We're lucky if they cover one. Usually, they skip to, "Abortion is bad, Bush is good, and Jesus hates CNN."

No, fox news isn't balanced by itself. But given that damn near every other major network is just blatantly leaning in the opposite direction, it's balanced in the sense of seeing every issue blown out of proportion from the other side.
People choose a news network to reinforce their biased view. The reason Fox news feels neutral to you is because you're right in their market audience, i.e. self centered fear mongling baboons.
Other networks target increasing amount of empathic and secular interpretation of society, i.e. usually the ones that are more socially aware and educated.

In addition to being fair and balanced, Fox News is also not part of the mainstream media elite! Because if the flagship U.S. station of the largest media empire in the world isn't outside of the main stream, what is??

Fox may not be overly balanced, but it is less biased to the right than CNN, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, and CBS are to the left.

As a Canadian, I listen to CBC and BBC. I find most American news services are actually part of a huge propaganda machine, government orchestrated, loaded with subliminals, lost in double meanings, and grossly misleading. Just for the Hellry in it, every American should have to listen to BBC radio news right after seeing CNN or FOX reporting on any news incident, particularly when dealing with international stories. The difference is eye-opening and even astounding. Buy yourself a radio and tune in CBC or BBC and then comment on 'Lying Bastard Propaganda News Services', Fox or CNN - when you have some background to comment on! Poor dumb Yanks, hoodwinked every time!
I happen to listen to BBC radio at night, every night while going to sleep. I like to get an international perspective on U.S. events, as well as international news.
The previous poster, as with most liberals, has no idea that his preferred news source has an obvious leftist bent. HE thinks that because their worldview is HIS worldview, their reporting is unbiased.
The BBC is as leftist a news organization as MSNBC is here in the states.

I love it when liberals complain about media bias!! Maybe it helps them understand our discontent with the liberal leanings of CNN, NBC, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, The NY Times, The LA Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, etc. And hey, at least Fox News doesn't put Sean Hannity to cover the Convention as an "unbiased" news event- he covers it as a commentator- not a newsdesk host. That's unlike MSNBC who put Olbermann on, possibly the most biased commentator on any news channel. He can have his own commentary show, that's fine- but if MSNBC wants to be respected as a true "news" channel, they should put a true news person to cover events not obviously biased commentators.

Open your freaking eyes. you think stories about internet predators or whether or not walmart is good or bad or gay marriage is real news? It's all bullshit. They are distractions. The 'news' has become info-tainment. We are the same country that has made American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, and the Amazing Race top-rated shows. We've already proven to the media where our interests are. Yes, Fox News has a conservative slant. Yes, other networks have a liberal slant. But they don't make money if people don't tune in and support this bullshit. Do not blame the media. The media makes money the same way every fucking business in the US makes- by selling a product. If people buy that product, the companies make money. It's simple math. If you want to blame anyone for the shit we have now, take a look around you. There you go. And the sad part is, I'm still optimistic.
Currently, near all TV channels have some sort of bias, just like all men do. Today, the best option is to read news online - there you can see several different opinions and make up a more or less clear idea of what's happening.
