Best way to steal a UPS

Today I was asked to fix an APC Back-UPS 600 power supply. The power supply failed to run with electricity off so I thought it's accumulator must have been damaged. It had normal weight, but something was suspiciously shaking inside it...

The wires were connected directly so the "UPS" was working as an ordinary plug.
